The story behind the Purple March Tee

Purple has long been the colour of epilepsy awareness.

It represents dignity, visibility, and the millions of people whose lives are shaped, quietly or loudly, by epilepsy every day.

Our Purple March Tee was created for Epilepsy Awareness Month, but its meaning goes beyond one month on the calendar.

At the top of the design is a simple truth:

1 in 25 Aussies have, or will have, epilepsy in their lifetime.

It’s a statistic many people don’t realise - until epilepsy touches their family, their child, their partner, or themselves. This tee turns that number into something visible, wearable, and shareable.

At the heart of the design is the message:

JOIN THE MOVEMENT

Because awareness doesn’t happen alone.
Change doesn’t happen quietly.
And community is where understanding begins.

Wearing this tee is an invitation - to conversations, to curiosity, and to compassion. It’s a way of saying I see you, I’m learning, or I stand with you.

On the back, the words “Visibility Changes Everything” reflect what we believe at our core. When epilepsy is visible, stigma softens. When stories are shared, support grows. When people feel seen, outcomes change.

This tee also connects directly to our March Month of Movement (Move for Epilepsy) challenge - a community-led initiative encouraging people to move their bodies in any way they can throughout March.
