Jude is a happy-go-lucky little boy with the most beautiful cheeky smile. He’s at his happiest when watching

The Wiggles or bouncing on his trampoline. Jude’s epilepsy is just one of many diagnoses resulting from a brain injury caused by meningitis and sepsis when he was only 24 days old.

His first seizures happened during the acute stage of his meningitis and were incredibly hard to control. After being seizure-free for almost 18 months, Jude began showing strange rhythmic movements at bedtime.

After taking many videos and sharing them with his neurology team, an EEG confirmed that Jude was having seizures again.

Unfortunately, Jude recently had a very long and frightening seizure, confirming his official epilepsy diagnosis.

He’s now back on medication and is responding well, with no further seizures so far.

Jude’s brain injury and epilepsy diagnosis have changed the life of his family in so many ways.

They never expected to be on this journey, but they’re beyond grateful for the support of their village when they need it the most!

For families finding themselves in a similar situation, Jude’s mum offers some advice: “Trust your gut! It’s always better to be cautious and ask too many questions than not enough – it could be life-changing.”

Jude’s family is currently fundraising to give him the intensive rehab therapy he desperately needs at NAPA in Melbourne.

This three-week program will focus on improving Jude’s speech, strength, physical resilience, and feeding skills. It’s an essential step in his ongoing development, and they need our help to make it happen.
