Hudson

Three-and-a-half-year-old Hudson has faced significant challenges from the very start of his life.

Initially diagnosed with sleep apnoea, his parents soon noticed weakness on the left side of his body, which became more pronounced as he began to roll and crawl.

Hudson's left arm or leg would often give way, causing him to fall. After numerous appointments with physiotherapists, a hospital visit due to his weakness led to an MRI of his brain.

The results revealed that Hudson had a nodule in his frontal lobe, which had not developed properly, and a chromosomal anomaly associated with epilepsy.

After what felt like a huge struggle, Hudson went nearly six weeks without a seizure. However he then experienced another tonic-clonic seizure in his sleep. Miraculously, he was able to get up and walk to his mother’s bedroom, albeit while shaking uncontrollably and slurring his words.

Hudson's diagnosis of frontal lobe epilepsy, confirmed in November 2022, means that his seizures originate from the frontal lobe of his brain, which is responsible for critical functions such as movement, reasoning, and behaviour.

Despite the ongoing challenges, Hudson is a fighter, and his family continue searching for the best treatments to control his seizures.
